keep it simple, keep it clean
The dot com is not dead, and many large corporate sites in diverse industries have recently or are are getting ready to redesign. It's an interesting time to resdesign, in many cases sites are outdated and looking to become not only fresh but also more flashy. Flashy is not necessarily a bad thing, but it must be based on logical structure and good design to remain useful to its visitors.
The first step is determining the goal of the site
The second is to determine the primary audience
Then architect the structure and design around those key elements
